Laura Johnson, MBA, MA, LMFT, is a Certified Cognitive Behavior Therapist in San Jose. I offer a positive therapy approach that balances acceptance with behavior change. My style is non-judgmental and strength-based while striving to help you make positive changes in your life. I will help you develop positive emotions, optimism and resilience, while empathically listening to you and helping you to reduce unhelpful emotions, thoughts and behaviors. When it is relevant to look at the past, we will do so to help you improve your life in the present and future. We will collaboratively identify goals for you to work on during and in between therapy sessions. At every session, we will measure progress toward your goals so you will know when therapy is working.

While I have exposure to a broad range of therapeutic techniques and base treatment on the individual needs of the client, I am drawn to cognitive and behavioral therapies because research shows it works for a wide variety of clients and problems. I integrate positive psychology into my approach because I believe in helping my clients identify and develop their strengths as well as building positive emotions, optimism and resilience.
